Ever since I can remember I’ve been extremely interested in occult, mythical, mystical, magical, supernatural matters. I was always so curious to find out the why’s behind all this secretive stuff. I wanted to know why some people supposedly knew more than others, and I wanted to know why unexplainable things happened. Further more, I think there is always an explanation, even if we haven’t figured it out yet.

This kind of mentality has me reading every book that I find on any of these intriguing subjects. During my childhood these books were mostly fiction. Books on gnomes, witches, fairies, time-traveling…

When I was around 15 though, I started investigating books on what I thought was “real magic” and was very very surprised at my parents and other grown-up’s reactions.

They seemed terrified that I was reading that stuff. And they tried to stop me from doing it in every way they could. They seemed afraid that I was going to be “brainwashed” by these books.

If those books could ‘brainwash’ me, what were they doing to me in school?! I wondered!

Ever since then it’s been very interesting to me to see the reactions people have to these subjects. They seem to mostly fall in three categories: the ones that an uncanny interest for it, like myself. The ones that feel immidiate fear, horror or even panic at the very mention of anything related to it. And then there’s the people that discard it right away as lies, made-up stories or a ways for someone to deceive someone else. Then there’s people that seem to go back & forth.

I consider things like numerology, astrology, tarot cards or palmistry to be fun tools to aid you in your life and guide you. I find that the majority of problems with them lay on the fact that most people go to someone outside of themselves for guidance instead of learning about these practices as tools, and using them to guide themselves from within.

Since these “arts” have been really useful and fun to me in my life and in the development or awakening of my spiritual nature and intuition, I thought I’d start talking about different sides to them here, to share my views on it, the basics of it, and bring greater understanding to these matters.

As with everything else in life, what works for one might not work for another,it’s all a matter of following your instincts, trying things out and doing what helps you most and makes you feel best.

Let’s start with numerology, something very interesting and with a lot of sides to it. I’ve read a fair share about it in my days, and I’ve sort of developed my own way of interpreting and dealing with numbers in my life overtime. That’s what I encourage you to do as well. Read, learn, and then just make your own way as you go.

What is Numerology?

Numerology is any system, method or belief that you apply to the interepretation of numbers in your life or the universe. There is many of them. In general we could say it is the study of the hidden or magical meanings of numbers and of their influence on human life. It is supposed to be a calculative means of obtaining information about one’s character, capabilities & future or destiny.

It is based on the idea that the universe is mathematically constructed and all things can be expressed in numbers which correspond to vibrations. Every word has a number equivalent and that is how things like your name or birth can be interpreted & determine things like your personality, life path or destiny.

What are the origins of Numerology?

Historically there doesn’t appear to be any solid proof as to when or where numerology first originated. The roots of numerology date back thousands of years and variations of it can be found in most civilizations throughout history.

It’s generally accepted that numerology was in use thousands of years ago in China, India, Egypt, Greece and Rome long before the time of Pythagoras, who is is most commonly credited as being “the father of numerology”. He was one of the best known philosophers of his day and very important figure in the development of mathematics. But he was also interested in the concepts or principles behind them. From certain observations in music, mathematics, and astronomy, he believed that all relations could be reduced to number relations. That the entire Universe is composed of mathematical patterns, and that all things can be expressed in numbers that correspond to universal vibrations.

The teachings of Pythagoras were taken up by Plato and reinforced by the writings of the Jewish Kabbalah. Although little can be confirmed about Pythagoras directly, his teachings spawned a philosophical and religious movement, called Pythagorism, that spread throughout the Roman Empire. In the Middle Ages, a numerical mysticism evolved from the teachings of Merkabah, a sect of Judaism. In the 13th century the German Kabbalists developed gematria, a mystic numerical interpretation of the Scriptures. Continued interest by early Christian scholars, such as St. Augustine, led to the widespread use of numerology during the Renaissance.

That’s how numerology became a system for both divination and magic based upon the concept that the entire universe is composed of mathematical patterns, and all things can be expressed in numbers which correspond to universal vibrations. Therefore, all things, including names, words, birth dates and birthplaces, are able to be reduced to numbers in order to determine personalities, destinies and fortunes of individuals.

Methods of Interpretation in Numerology

The three most popular methods in use today are : the Chaldean numerology, the Kabbalah numerology system and of coarse, the Pythagorean.

1. Pythagorean Numerology:

* By far the most popular and widely used system by modern numerologists in the west. Part of its popularity arises from the fact that it is easy to learn, understand & practice.

* It was created by Pythagoras and has been used since about 600BC, however it may not have been used to do numerology readings originaly but was rather a way of doing early mathematics.

* It analyzes both the name and date of birth, and the interaction between the two.

* It uses the numbers 1 through 9, known as as “core” numbers & 11, 22 known as “Master Numbers”. Any other numbers are ‘reduced’ to one of these by first adding up the individual digits.

* There are five primary numbers. Two can be derived from your birthday and the other three from your full birth name. There’s also a sixth number, which is considered secondary.

1. The Soul Number : Describes what you feel inside. And talks about your relationship with yourself. People may not see this part of you. It is what your soul is calling you to be.

2. The Personality Number : Describes how people will perceive you. It is what you show the world.

3. The Power Name Number: Describes the strength of your name.

4. The birth day number: Describes the way others see you.

5. The life path number : Considered the most important, describes the path your life is “destined” to take. The first step to analyze a person.

6. The attitude number: Considered secondary.(but still important) .It describes your general attitude toward life. If your Attitude Number is not in harmony with your Life Path Number, then you will confuse the people in your life. All of these are meant to offer insight into who you are and how you can improve your life.

* Each letter of the alphabet has a numerical value which ranges between one and nine.

* To calculate your life path number “reduce” to a “core” or “master” number your date of birth arranged in order mm/dd/yyyy.

* To calculate your soul number “reduce” to a “core” or “master” number the vowels in your full name.

* To calculate your personality number “reduce” to a “core” or “master” number the consonants in your full name.

2. The Kabbalah numerology system:

* To word Kabbalah means : “to receive knowledge that comes through the mind and soul rather than through a flesh and blood teacher”.

* The Kabbalah’s origins lie in ancient Hebrew mysticism.

* The Kabbalah numerology system does not take into account the numerical value of the birthday but only the person’s name.

* This system is based on the Hebrew alphabet, which means it has only twenty-two numerical vibrations. These vibrations range from 1 to 400.

* Originally developed on the basis of Hebrew alphabet, the Kabbalah Numerology later adapted to Greek and Roman alphabet in time.

* Many numerologists do not consider it accurate because it does not consider name and birth dates together, it only focuses on the calculation of the name in question.

3. Chaldean numerology:

* Also known as “Mystic Numerology” because it is a much more spiritual method than the rest.

* Probably the oldest system of numerology known.

* It originated in Babylonia at the mouth of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers near the Persian Gulf.

* The numbers assigned to the letters are determined by vibrational value instead of alphabetical order.

* It works with numbers 1 through 8.

* No alphabet letter is assigned to the number 9. The Chaldeans considered the number 9 to be holy & sacred and thought it should be held apart from the rest.

* Analyzes both name and date of birth.

* It bases your date of birth number on the day of the month you were born. Your birth number is considered most important because, unlike your name which can be changed, it is constant.

* Rather than analyzing your birth name, uses only the name you are most known by.

* Single and compound numbers are of equal importance.

* It splits an individual’s influences and spiritual aspects into two areas: the inner self and the outer self. They used single digits to represent the inner and double digits for the outer.

* It is considered to be more accurate the the Pythagorean system, however, it is less popular because it is more difficult to master since it’s not as systematic when it comes to the vibrational value of letter.

* Readings through the Chaldean system have a much more metaphysical or occult essence to them than the other methods.

I see the same sequence of numbers all the time everywhere, what do they mean?

The biggest way in which I use numerology in my life is interpreting “signs” I get in the form of repeated number sequences. I think this happens to a lot of people.

They say that the universe, god, or your guardian angels,(however you want to refer to it) are always looking out for us and try to communicate with us in subtle ways everyday. One of these ways is by putting number sequences in your reality repeatedly so you will notice.

When this happens to you, the first thing to take into consideration is what that number means to you, but if you feel clueless, here’s what common number sequences may mean:

111 - Monitor your thoughts carefully, and be sure to only think about what you want, not what you don’t want. This sequence is a sign that there is a gate of opportunity opening up, and your thoughts are manifesting into form at record speeds. The 111 is like a snapshot of your thoughts that manifest into form quickly. It’s a good way to see if you are manifesting what you want. If you aren’t satisfied, correct your thoughts.

222 -This is a sing of confirmation that you are on the right path, doing the right thing and going in the right direction. Your new ideas are beginning to take roots into reality. Keep thinking about them and nurturing them, and soon you will see evidence of your manifestation. In other words, don’t quit five minutes before they come to life. Your manifestation is soon going to be evident to you, so keep up the good work! Keep holding positive thoughts, keep affirming, and continue visualizing.

333 - This sign indicates that your thoughts and feelings are in alignment with who you really are . It could be interpreted as a Cosmic “Yes!” to questions you have been asking or ideas you may have.

444 - Don’t worry because there is help nearby and you are being taken care of. You are being protected. Everything’s good.

555 - A major life change is upon you or a life changing thought or event has just occurred. This change should not be viewed as being “positive” or “negative” since all change is but a natural part of life’s flow. Perhaps this change is an answer to your questions,in any case your life path direction has just changed and it’s time for you to change too. Move with it and follow those thoughts.

666 - Your thoughts are out of balance right now, focused too much on the material world due to mental or emotional imbalance. This number sequence indicates your thoughts are not clear and you should not continue with this train of thought. Let it pass.

777 - This sign indicates that a lesson has been learned. It is a sign of acknowledgment and achievement. Keep up the good work and know your wish is coming true. This is an extremely positive sign, you’ve learned something important about your life and it means you should also expect more good things to occur.

888 - A phase of your life is about to end, and this is a sign to give you forewarning to prepare. This number sequence may mean you are winding up an emotional, career, or relationship phase. It also means there is light at the end of the tunnel. In addition, it means the crops are ripe. Don’t wait to pick and enjoy them! In other words, don’t procrastinate making your move or enjoying the fruits of your labor.

999 - Completion. This is the end of a big phase in your personal or global life. Our thoughts at the time of seeing this sing indicate that these thoughts will bring about the completion or end of a phase in your life.

000 -It is a sign that a situation has gone full circle. You are in alignment with who you really are and who you really want to be.

121, 112, 1221, 2121, 2211, 1122 - If you are repeatedly seeing combinations of 1’s and 2’s, this is a message that our thoughts are like seeds that are beginning to sprout. You may have already seen some evidence of the fruition of your desires. These are signs that things will and are growing in your aspired direction.

1234 - If you are repeatedly seeing ascending number sequences such as 1234, this is a sign for you to make progress. You will see this sign when thinking about an area of your life that you are concerned about and want to change. Seeing this number sequence immediately after these thoughts is a sign that this is the right course of action for you and you will have the support you need in its pursuit.

321 - If you are repeatedly seeing descending number sequences such as 321, this is a sign that your thoughts are regressive. You will see this sign when you are thinking about an area of you life or course of action. Seeing this number sequence immediately after such thoughts is an indication that your life will take a step backwards if you follow the course of action you are considering.

In my personal opinion, numerology like everything is part of a conversation between your universe and you. So the numbers that show up in your life in the way that they do only have a certain meaning to you.

We often assign meanings to numbers in our lives almost without realizing .As so many countries have agreed to the STOP sign’s meaning, and every time you see it, you take it as what it means, you can do the same with certain symbols, numbers or signs in your life. Sometimes you do it consciously and sometimes you don’t.

If our whole lives we’ve been believing that every time we see X number something awesome or extraordinary happens to us, it ends up being that way. I don’t believe that the number makes anything happen, but that your reality lines up so that number shows up around you right before certain kinds of events are about to happen. It’s like a pattern is being established. That’s why I consider them signs or a ‘heads up’.

If you decide to be a deliberate creator of your reality, by choosing your thoughts and the subjects and things you focus your attention on, then you might want to start giving meanings to numbers or combinations of numbers purposefully in order to get better clues from the Universe.

The same way we agreed upon the STOP sign you can create a symbol and agree that it means something specific to you in your life. People do it all the time, they create logos, amulets, signatures, they make up words…Everytime you see that symbol, it will mean that something to you. That is a great tool of communication between you and your universe, which is always pushing you to go in the direction of who you really are.

I encourage you to think about how this applies to your own life. As I said earlier, we’re used to going to someone (book, person or institution) that will give us guidance and tell us what to do about the situations in our life.

I think that you already have everything you need and all of the answers to all of your questions are within you.

You can play around with these concepts, figure out your life path number or see what number corresponds to your name and what it has to say about you, but remember that what matters most is how these things make you feel when you read them and the things you realize or find out about yourself when you do.
